This preclinical study tracked the timing of inflammation-related gene expression after Selank and its short fragment Gly-Pro in mouse spleen. Using real-time PCR after a single intraperitoneal injection (100 microg/kg), researchers reported a ~3-fold drop in C3 mRNA within 30 minutes of Selank, wave-like changes in Casp1, early changes in Il2rg, and reduced Xcr1 around 90 minutes — with the fragment Gly-Pro often producing similar patterns, suggesting the dipeptide contributes to Selank's overall effect. For Selank, this supports its immunomodulatory framing and the recurring theme that its fragments carry part of its activity. Weigh it as descriptive immunogenetic data: spleen mRNA time-courses do not establish functional immune outcomes, gene selection is targeted, and mechanism is inferred. These are preclinical findings; human data are needed before clinical conclusions can be drawn.

Selank is thought to influence the immune system, and this study looked at how quickly it changes the activity of inflammation-related genes. Researchers gave mice a single injection of either Selank or its small fragment Gly-Pro, then measured gene activity in the spleen (an immune organ) at several early time points. Within 30 minutes, one gene (C3) dropped to about a third of its usual activity after Selank. Other genes changed in different patterns over the following hour and a half — some rising and falling in waves, others simply decreasing. In many cases, the small fragment Gly-Pro caused changes very similar to full Selank, which the authors take as a sign that the fragment does part of Selank's work. This was a mouse study measuring gene activity only, over short time windows. It suggests Selank quickly and broadly nudges immune-related genes, but it does not show any effect on infection, inflammation, or health, and it was not done in people.
