Stable Gastric Pentadecapeptide BPC 157 and Intestinal Anastomoses Therapy in Rats-A Review.

There is no controlled human trial of BPC-157 for anastomotic healing, and the concentration of this literature in a single group with disclosed commercial interests means independent replication is an open requirement. This review focuses on how BPC-157 performed in animal experiments involving surgical joins in the digestive tract. When surgeons remove part of the gut, they reconnect the ends, a join called an anastomosis, and these joins can leak or fail to knit together. The authors summarise rat studies in which BPC-157 was linked to better healing of many different types of these joins, as well as the closing of abnormal channels called fistulas that can form between organs or to the skin. All of the evidence comes from animals, not from human surgical patients. The review makes a case that BPC-157 supports healing in these situations, but without human trials it cannot show that the peptide would help people recovering from this kind of surgery.
