A very small human safety signal, and important to size correctly. This pilot gave intravenous BPC-157 (10 mg then 20 mg) to just two adults over three days, tracking bloodwork and vital signs. No changes in cardiac, liver, kidney, thyroid or glucose markers were seen, and no side effects were reported; the authors describe it as tolerated. But with only two participants, both of whom had received BPC-157 before, this cannot establish safety in any general sense, and it says nothing about efficacy. It is best read as a first-step tolerability observation that the authors themselves say must be confirmed in larger studies. BPC-157's human evidence base remains limited to a handful of small pilots. It is not FDA-approved and was removed from the FDA Category-2 compounding list.

Plain-language abstract

This was a very small pilot study testing whether BPC-157 given directly into a vein caused any obvious harm. Two people took part, a 58-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman, both of whom had used BPC-157 before. Over three days they received infusions of 10 mg and then 20 mg, with blood tests and vital signs checked before and after. The results showed no measurable changes in markers for the heart, liver, kidneys, thyroid, or blood sugar, and neither person reported side effects. The authors describe the infusions as well tolerated. However, with only two participants, this study cannot show that BPC-157 is safe in general, and it did not test whether it helps any condition. The authors say larger studies are needed to confirm even the safety question.
