This study combined the results of 128 randomised trials, covering roughly 316,800 adults, to see whether newer diabetes medicines are linked to lung problems, focusing on a condition called asthma-COPD overlap syndrome (ACOS). The researchers used a method (network meta-analysis) that lets them compare several drug types at once and account for dose. They found that injectable semaglutide was associated with a lower risk of ACOS and of COPD, as were certain SGLT2-inhibitor diabetes drugs (canagliflozin, empagliflozin, dapagliflozin).
