This study set out to build a faster, more sensitive laboratory test to catch banned peptides in urine samples for sports drug testing. Rather than doing the usual sample clean-up steps, the researchers injected urine directly into the analysis system and used two linked techniques — liquid chromatography and ion-mobility mass spectrometry — to separate and identify the compounds. The test was designed to spot many small peptides at once, including TB-500, ipamorelin, hexarelin, and GHRP-6, all of which appear on the World Anti-Doping Agency banned list. The method could detect these substances at very low concentrations (50 to 500 picograms per millilitre) and was consistent and reliable across its working range. Freezing samples at -20°C kept the peptides stable for testing. As a final check, the team confirmed the method worked on real urine from people who had been given GHRP-6, GHRP-2, or LHRH.
