Editor's note
An inventive use of pharmacy records to probe the emerging semaglutide-migraine question without a trial. The nationwide scale is a strength, and the pattern — reductions concentrated in existing triptan users, women, and younger adults — is internally coherent. But triptan refills are a proxy, not a headache diary, and weight loss itself could account for some of the change. A modest, suggestive signal that strengthens the case for a proper randomized study.
Plain-language abstract
Using Danish national prescription records covering nearly 190,000 people who started weight-loss semaglutide, researchers found migraine medication (triptan) use fell about 7% in the year after starting the drug — mostly among women and existing migraine patients.
