Semaglutide and tirzepatide are among the class members pooled here, but the analysis reports a class-level estimate rather than peptide-specific results. The pooled odds ratio was non-significant and the constituent studies conflicted, so the finding is best regarded as inconclusive. Larger prospective studies are needed before drawing conclusions about pregnancy risk.
Plain-language abstract
This meta-analysis of three cohort studies (10,880 pregnancies) found no statistically significant association between GLP-1 receptor agonist exposure around conception or early pregnancy and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. The evidence base was small and the individual studies disagreed in direction.
