This is preclinical mechanistic work in rats and cultured cardiomyocytes, so its reported cardioprotective effect should not be extrapolated to humans. The mechanistic case is well-controlled, with March5 knockdown reversing the benefit and pointing to a specific ferroptosis pathway. Regard it as a promising early signal that motivates further study, not clinical evidence.

In a rat model of trauma-plus-sepsis heart injury, semaglutide reduced a form of iron-dependent cell death (ferroptosis) by acting through the March5-ACSL4 pathway. Silencing March5 abolished the protective effect, supporting the proposed mechanism.
