A PROSPERO-registered meta-analysis of eight randomized trials covering the GLP-1 receptor agonist class, with semaglutide as one of several agents rather than the sole focus. Semaglutide was reported to show the largest weight reduction in exploratory subgroup analysis, though the class as a whole drove the pooled anthropometric and glycemic improvements. Gastrointestinal adverse events were more frequent, and no significant effects were seen on fasting insulin, lipids, or blood pressure.

This meta-analysis looked at GLP-1 receptor agonists in people with schizophrenia who had gained weight on antipsychotics. Across eight trials, these agents were associated with reduced body weight, BMI, waist circumference, and HbA1c, with semaglutide showing the largest weight reduction.
